LD Training1 Welcome back to Leader Dogs

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen! It’s time for the Christmas edition of training and how exciting it is to be here!

Whew, the day startedoff with me wondering how long I’d make it without sleep, lol. I knew when the time came that sleep would definitely not be in the cards and I was correct. However, I did not count on sick children and 11 month old little monkies playing their part, lol.

I left home about 11AM and made it to Leader around 12:45 or so. Thank you so very much to The Lions Club for giving me a ride to Leader. It was a fun enjoyable trip all the way up.

The weather here at Leader was wet wet and did I mention wet? I asked my friend if maybe I should have bought ice skates and a boat instead of boots to class since in some spots it looked icy and definitely sounded extremely flooded!

***difference from last training***
1. No, lost, luggage! No having to borrow my instructors clothes and wondering when the heck mine would show up or if they would, ha! No walking through an airport that seemed like it would never end. Nope, I got the pleasure of driving up and having my luggage with me the whole way!

2. I’m in the Avon Wing this time around and have already forgotten that I don’t go right when exiting my room to get to the dining room! ***grumbles*** how many times will that happen? I also keep forgetting about the darn chair that’s hanging out between the door and the dresser/desk. Really should move that thing before it kills me!

3. There are now amazon echos in the rooms and man my one at home is faster than the one here. I ask her a question and she has to decide if she’s going to wake up before answering me, lol. Makes me wonder if my google at home would like being friends with this echo?

4. The assigned seating happened tonight at dinner unlike when I was here last when it happened at breakfast. Unless something changes the majority at my table are all from Michigan. How funny is that?

5. Finally, the instructors for this class we don’t meet until tomorrow. Only the volunteers and RA’s are here tonight.

6. Oh, almost forgot. It looks like the internet is much much better than it was when I got Luna. The connection back then was extremely slow when loading pages and when disconnect if you weren’t doing anything after a while which got rather annoying! So far this seems to do much better!

There’s one other big difference regarding juno walks that is different, but I will talk about that tomorrow if the story is actually true. If it is I will be sooooooo excited about that change! My friends that were in classes before now didn’t mention it when they were here unless I missed it. Which is possible with the super chatty fun Whats App group that we’re in!

I have met some pretty interesting people in my class so far, but will talk more about them tomorrow after we do the introduction gathering after dinner. Guide dog training wise there are only 13 of us and 6 for mobility training. There’s at least 5 new guide dog handlers, but will clarify that tomorrow. One person couldn’t make it in today due to mother nature being rude and blocking the roads so they couldn’t get to the airport. Fingers crossed that tomorrow goes better for them!

We of course had spaghetti for dinner and it was ***great*** as Leader Dog food could be! But for now it’s time to try for sleep, my first quiet sleep for the next 3 weeks.

BTW, I wonder how many times I’ll wake up wondering where the kids are because it’s too quiet?

Very Thankful this year

It’s the most wonderful time of the year!

I definitely have loads to be Thankful for this year!

We moved to Michigan in March of this year and although it took a while for things to get settled we’re very happy here.

I’m very happy to have 2 happy hyper some times hair pulling boys! They are growing like a weed. Jay is 3 and Kal is about to turn 1. Can you believe that? Jay started school this year and I bet before Kal turns one he’s going to be running around the apartment!

Thanks to a friend I also have a job that I absolutely love! Though I wonder sometimes how I make it through the day when Kal keeps me up all night, I’m still glad to have a job that I don’t mind waking up and going too. I work for Peckham Industries and they treat their employees very well and I’ve made loads of new hopefully lifelong friends there.

We’ve had some ups and downs this year, but I’m very grateful for having my lesser half as well. Even though sometimes he makes me want to pull my hair out too! I don’t know who drives me nuts more, the little boys or the big one. Lol, maybe it’s both?

So do you know the next thing that would just top this year off and make it the absolute?

You guess it. If we got out of this darn apartment living and back into a house! Anyone in Lansing know a good renter to go through for that? We need at least a 3 bedroom. That darn Kalvin needs his own room now!

Oh yes, one more thing would make this year great too.

My vacation that starts in about 7 days! It will be hard to leave the crazy household, but I sooooo can’t wait for this trip!

Happy Holidays To All!

Why I prefer Uber

The first time I heard about Uber was while I was at leader Dogs getting my awesome dog luna. I wasn’t sure about getting the app for my phone since I was in the States and at the time I wasn’t aware that they were also just starting up in Ottawa. But, much to my surprise when I got home in October I learned they were hear and I’ve been using them ever since!

Here’s why I prefer Uber over the other taxi companies:
1. They have an app that goes along with their service.
The downside to this is that if you don’t have a cell phone like an IPhone and maybe an Android. Maybe sometime they can fix this if it hasn’t been thought of already.
Advantage of the app. I’m not having to sit on hold waiting for someone to pick up the phone and listen to horrible on hold music.

2. I can see how close a car is to my location before even making my trip.
This can be helpful in letting me know…ok, should I book the trip now or get ready first and then book the trip. Yes, sometimes it can change form a driver being 4 minutes away to maybe 20 in a blink of an eye, but still better than what you get with regular cab companies.

3. I can see when a driver has picked up the trip, their name, their license plate, their rating and again most important, how far away they are.
Regular cab company always says, “oh it will be there in 15 minutes” even though no driver has picked up the trip. Then when time comes and goes you call them back and they still tell you, “oh the car will be there soon” or “we’re still waiting on a car to take the trip.”

4. I have direct contact with the Uber driver.
With Uber I can tell them either by a phone call or send them a text message to look for a female in a purple jacket with a guide dog and I’m at this location.
Regular cab company you can tell them you’re blind and have a guide dog, but that message does not always make it to the driver. If your place is hard to find you also can’t communicate this directly with a regular taxi driver. You just have to hope for the best while standing around wondering where they are.

5. With Uber if I get a driver that was totally unprofessional in any way at all I could provide feedback on the trip and depending on the rating I give the driver I will not get that driver again.
I don’t know how many times I’ve had trouble with regular taxi companies being unprofessional by driving off because they don’t want to take my guide dog, driving recklessly while talking on the phone or just plain being rude cause they are having a bad day. I have asked so many times not to be sent certain drivers due to their attitudes or reckless driving just to get that same driver some other time down the line.

6. Uber is definitely cheaper.
Uber trip to Carleton University around $$17 to 20.
Regular taxi to Carleton University around $30.
Hmm, which would you choose?

Uber definitely has some bugs they need to work out, but since I’ve been riding with them from October until today I’ve had only 4, count them 4 trips that weren’t to my liking. Each time I explained to Uber what happened and they were quick to get back to me or refund my money if that was the case and I have not, repeat have not had any of those drivers again to this day!

Regular taxi companies still get my business if Uber happens to be really busy or if I’m in an area they are not, but my choice will always be Uber first as long as they are around.

Many cities such as Ottawa are trying to shut them down, why? They are afraid of the competition!

I think instead of hounding Uber and making fake trips just so they can hit them with a fine the city could be using their resources to help make the other taxi companies more reliable. Uber is trying, are the other taxi companies?

Listen to what riders such as myself have to say. Hell, better yet maybe close your eyes one day and call for a cab and see what it feels like waiting around for a cab just to find out it came and left without you. Call for a regular cab just to get in and see that it smells like the person hasn’t had a shower in about a week. Check in with the regular taxi companies are they really making sure their drivers don’t discriminate on who they pick up? Do they really pull drivers from their routes that drive off because they see a person with a guide dog?

These are things the city and those that want to attack Uber should be looking at instead of waisting time.

Uber all the way for me!

Petawawa for Christmas, Year 3

Wow, what a way to start a Christmas break.

Yesterday morning started off in a panic.
1. An annoying telemarketer calls James cell phone and that’s what wakes us up…at 8:30AM.
2. I discover that my alarm didn’t go off at 6AM *grumbles*
3. Luna who always starts yelling at me at 5:30Am decides that she’ll just sleep in for a change. Yeah, she just had to pick the one day we needed to be up, lol.
4. Call Greyhound just to find out that if we can’t make the 10AM bus then we’re just shit out of luck and have to buy the tickets all over again. Oh and the next bus isn’t until midnight. *midnight*
5. So, quick run around the house and throw last minute stuff in suitcases, feed Luna, rush Luna through parktime while all the time watching the clock.
6. Everything is all set and finally tag Uber for a pickup…*groans* it’s a driver I had before that is as smart as, well never mind.

Exciting morning right? Well, we make it to the station in time, but guess what? Ha, the driver is late! All that running around and missing getting Mr. Sub just to end up waiting on the driver after all.

Luna was a little out of sorts for a while due to me rushing her, but once we got settled on the bus she was a good girl and slept the whole trip.

This makes the second year that we’ve had fun getting started on our trip to Petawawa for the holiday. Maybe we should try hitch hiking next year?

Luna meets Missy and Willy
Oy, now the first visit definitely did not go off perfect. Missy and Willy did not like the fact that Luna was in *their* house. Big bad hyper puppy lets growl and snarl at her and maybe she’ll go away?

Nope, sorry puppies doesn’t work that way. I just introduce you to each other one at a time and use food as bait, ha!

Missy and Luna aren’t friends yet…too protective over who they see as *their* humans. Missy snaps at Luna if she gets too close to James and Luna snaps at Missy if she gets too close to me. Still needs work, but much better than dealing with constant snapping and growling and wanting to bite heads off.

Luna and Willy, well I don’t think they care about each other now as far as who’s boss.

While here Luna will of course be on leash and attached to me…which she absolutely hates! In fact she’s complaining about that very thing as I write this, lol.

Ha, I think I started a bad habit. I was laying on the couch and Luna hopped on top of me and curled up. It was sooooooo cute! Tried taking a picture but James is a horrible picture taker. He chopped our heads off. *sighs* so hard to find good help.

Luna is definitely out of sorts here though. Constantly whining and grumbling and groaning at me. Not use to the whole idea of *whoops* must be constantly attached to mom again, who knows.

Now as long as the *warm* weather doesn’t the huge pile of snow into a mess I should be able to get someone to video Luna in the snow this time. Keep your fingers crossed.

trip to Toronto

Finally, I got to see more of Toronto than just the airport or the Greyhound bus station, lol.

Wednesday morning James Luna and I headed out to spend a few days in Toronto for the CNIB Braille conference hosted by CNIB

The trip started off with us finally packing for the trip like at 6 that morning. Talk about last minute packing, eh? It all worked out just fine. We had plenty of time to possibly forget something, play, feed, water and park luna a couple of times, fight with traffic and still got to the bus station with time to spare. Man, we’re good!

Wow, I absolutely have to say I *love* having a small dog now. It’s nothing like being stuck in seats with no leg room for ourself and having to throw in a dog. Luna is just the right size. Just throw her on, hahah just kidding didn’t really throw her, but she hopped right on, settled on the floor and slept the whole trip there. Only bothered to wake up when I coaxed her off the bus at the rest stop to see if she needed to stretch her paws. She was even a good girl for James when I left her with him to run inside the store so that I could go park myself. She didn’t whine or try and get away.

At the hotel for the first little while she was dog distracted with all the different guide dogs around so I kept the gentle leader on her whenever we weren’t in the room just in case I had to do some serious controlling.

OMG, who the heck let out all the dogs from GDB Poor Luna was like the only black lab and the only one from Leader.

Lets play the game, which of these things is not the same? lol.

Once again she showed me how extremely smart and observant she is. The relieving area at the hotel was a little of a walk from our room and after being shown where it was once, she had it the second time I took her out. I wasn’t exactly sure on where to make at least one of the turns, but she just pulled me along, lol. Follow your dog, right, isn’t that what they beat into your heads?

We sadly did have a too close for comfort traffic check that could have had a different ended than it did.

We decided to try and go find food that wouldn’t break the bank like most hotels do with a group of friends, one being another guide dog team. we got to this one street crossing and was in the middle of the crossing when car went right between Luna and I and the other guide dog team. They didn’t slow down, they didn’t stop, just drove right on through. Luna did exactly what she was suppose to do and stopped and stepped back, but even with her stepping back, the car was still too close. I could have reached out and touched it without putting my hand out too far. If not for that step back or if I wasn’t paying attention to Luna, that could have ended way worse.

luna however was affected by the incident. She was extremely hesitant in traveling and when we came to a curb or driveway she would either run across it or not want to go at all. This of course seriously concerned me and I got in touch with Leader Dog on Friday to see what to do and explain what happened. I also decided not to work Luna that day to lessen the stress she may have been feeling since I learned her stress signs while in class. I just saved working her when I had to take her to park.

So, I heard from Jessica and got some things to try to see if that will bring her back up to speed and I’ll be trying those now that we’re back home.

She seems fine and happy now that we’re back home, but I haven’t worked her yet either haha, just lots of playtime, but that is soon coming to an end.

Oh yes, another great thing happened while I was off playing in Toronto. I finally heard from Luna’s puppy raiser and got loads of pictures! *cheers*

LD training concluded

Finally, here’s what happened on our trip home *smiles* Sorry it took a while but I gave us some time to do absolutely nothing! of course not to mention that bug that tried to catch me in Michigan, yeah it caught up with me at home *cough cough* bleh!

off to the airport:
So we left Leader around 10:30AM or so and got to the airport close to noon. I was still a bit nervous since she still did not give me a poop. Pee liked 50,000 times, but not what I wanted her to give me.

I chose to go sighted guide instead of working her the the airport since it was just me. Again keep down her stress level which in my mind would lessen the chances of *stress* poop.

We got to the security check point and everyone was like, do it this way, do it that way and and and . . . I was like no, Luna and I will do it like this

I told the volunteer David to go ahead of me through the check point. Once he was through I asked the security guy to let me know exactly where the machine was and to direct me to where the center of it was. Nothing like running smack into the thing when you thing you’re lined up right *ow* So he give me tiny directions to help me line up. Once I was ready I told them that I would come through first and then have Luna come through after me. I informed them that Luna would set off the machine. They were all cool with that and a little confused, hahahah. Apparently they’ve never seen it done the way I was about to do it.

I told Luna to sit and to stay and switched to the long leash again telling Luna to stay, and she did. Such a good girl! I repeated stay as I walked through the machine. Once I felt I was clear I called Luna to come. She happily flew right on through setting off the alarm of course. I then had her sit nice while the security guy checked her out. They told me she was such a cute, pretty good girl *smiles*

Off we went to our gate where Luna settled under my chair while we waited.

things that make you say hmm:
While we were waiting this old lady was sitting next to us and asking all about my puppy and training and where I’m from and so on. But she had to go and make a statement that made me have to bite my tongue and just shake my head.

Lady, how long have you and your puppy known each other?
Me, 26 days.
Lady, oh that’s nice and where are you from?
Me, I’m from Ottawa Ontario Canada.
Lady, oh, I couldn’t live there their medical insurance is too high.

Then she went on to discuss other things and somehow ended up back on health care and this is what she said:

Lady, I’m going to Ottawa to visit my sister. I didn’t want you thinking I was going there for Ottawa’s free health care.

Um, wonder where she’s finding this free health care. Not to mention didn’t she just say it was too expensive? *scratches head*

damn small planes:
*cheers*

Time to board the plane, time for home!

*bam*

Ow my head. Darn small planes not made for tall people! I want my money back for my head injury…again.

I was able to change my seat from bulkhead to a regular seat. I hate bulkhead, bleh! I remove Luna’s harness and she squeezed between the seats while I grumbled that this is even tight for a skinny person, sheesh!

I get settled and my girl plops on the floor and like completely curls up under the seat in front of us and goes to sleep. Wow, what a trooper. Guess I’ll have nothing to worry about. Good, brief catnap for me.

what Luna thinks of the customs guy:
Now do you remember that poop that Luna didn’t give yet, well um here it comes.

So we get to customs and just my luck I get the dumbest guy on the planet. He’s like never seen a guide dog, that’s fair not everyone has so I’m telling him about how training goes and what the purpose of the dogs are, then he turns around and ask I paid for the dog and if I declared it on the customs card? Um, WTF? Now there is a first. Really just my luck and I really need to park myself. So instead of going through everything again I hand him a Leader Dog card get Luna’s records out of my backpack and try to give them to him…nope, he was like I don’t know what to do with this you didn’t declare the dog and and *growls* please just get me someone else th….whoops, Luna picks this time to um display her displeasure about the customs guy!

You guessed it, she decided now was the best time to take that poop I wanted earlier. I was like oh gods please don’t let this be the *squueeshy* kind.

Luckily it wasn’t!

I grabbed a bag and as I picked it up I said to Luna, I understand that guy is a total shit, hahahahah. The person helping me out cracked up laughing and took me to another agent!

welcome home:
Luna and I made it home in one piece and she settled in just great. We made it home whn I thought we would around her dinner time. She’s so smart I didn’t even have to tell her to sit out of my way. I grabbed her food bowl and she sat in the middle of the kitchen and waited *cheers*

After she ate she sniffed every inch of the house and found it to her liking.

I have a crate for her downstairs and a tent for her upstairs and she will happily go in both of them.

luna and the squeaky bone:
oo, a new toy hiding under the couch…mommy give me that bone I can’t reach it. So I hand her the bone and well *chuckles* this is what happens.

squeak squeak goes the bone as Luna starts to chew on it.
Yipes, goes Luna as she drops it on the floor. Luna then proceeds to bat the bone with her paw.
Squeak goes the bone and Luna glares at it.
Then Luna decides to nudge it with her nose instead…whew, no squeaky so she places a paw on it.
Squeak goes the bone…moving backwards goes Luna glaring at the bone!

hahahah, this is too amusing. How I wish I had my camera going.

luna moves back up to the bone and gently picks it up…oh, good it didn’t squeak so I’ll just chew on it a little more.
Squeak goes the bone, Luna quickly drops it on the floor and paws the bone away then glares at it once again.

lol, this goes on for at least 10 minutes before I finally call it quits when she places her head on my lap wondering what the hell to do.

Apparently bones are just not suppose to squeak at her!

I’m hoping tomorrow I’m feeling well enough to get us out and I can start patterning her to certain areas I need her to find…like our house, lol. But all is well and Luna is busy snoring. Stay tuned for more adventures as they happen.

Oh yes, I can also gladly say that I have not had one *stress* squishy poop since we got home and Saturday is now over, but I have to find a way to get her to stop eating the darn grass when it’s time to go outside.

LD training1 Welcome to Leader!

Hey there everyone!

I have arrived and boy what a trip it was. Sorry post is later than I was going to originally put it up, but after reading this you’ll understand why I needed some time to myself first. So lets begin, shall we?

Leaving Ottawa:
I left my house around 7:15AM yesterday morning and *yay* no traffic, so we got there pretty quick. The person that helped me at the Delta counter was a very nice lady and around 8:30 we headed off to do that annoying security thing.

Do you have a service dog?
*urm what?* Yep I was asked that question when doing my check in. Although the lady was super nice I wonder what made her ask such a silly question. Sorry, but do you *see* a dog hanging nearby? Nope, just this horrible cane of mine!

Fail 1:
Did you know that on the international side for Delta they don’t have a Starbucks? *gasp* WTH! The domestics get a Starbucks, but not those leaving the country! How fair is that? I demand a refund, *sniffs* So I had to wait and *hope* that I’d get my Starbucks on the other end.

Fail 2:
Can someone please explain to me how a *dog bone* looks like a container with lucid inside?…Yes, you read that right I promise. They tagged my bag to scan because the *dog bone* I brought looked like a container with liquid inside. But wait, it gets better…the lady tried opening it! *rolls eyes* I think someone needs to put her in a new section quickly, she might miss the actual important stuff. If there’s some new bone out there though I’d love to know about it.

Fail 3:
*ow* Who the hell made the plane, a short person? That’s ok, I didn’t need that head of mine anyways! Sorry, I don’t know the type of plane I flew out of Ottawa on, just that it was not made for tall people and was only 13 rows long. However, the good thing is it wasn’t one of those noisy tiny flights.n *whew* but man my head hut after that…all this and I haven’t even left Ottawa yet, *groans*

Where’s your service dog?
*sighs* again with the dog…someone must have wrote that I had a dog on this trip, damn travel agent! Nope, no dog on this trip, but here’s the funny thing the flight attendant after I told her no dog says, “oh, good when I didn’t see the dog I was wondering if it was roaming around the plane.” lol, now remember I said this plane is only 13 rows long and not made for tall people…where in the blue hell would a dog have to hide on this more than tiny plane, in the bathroom?…*whoops* nope, I was just in there and no dog hiding there. *sighs* some people!

And we’re off!
*cheers* The trip has begun. We left on time and managed to arrive in Detroit even earlier than we were suppose to. That was some great wind helping me out I would say. *chuckles*

STARBUCKS!!!
Oh, dance for joy, I get my Starbucks..someone loves me after all! Everything is right with the world again.

My first experience:
So I for the first time got to go on the moving sidewalk thing or whatever the hell you call it…like the escalators, but flat, lol. That was a pretty neat experience.

Need some exercise?
Damn, do I have to walk to China to get my bags? Up escalators, down escalators, on 2 moving sidewalk things, more escalators…are we there yet? No, walk about another 15 minutes…*whew* finally we made it, but . . .

*whoops*

HUGE FAIL:
Hey Delta, where’s my bag?
A hour and a half after I landed I was still at the airport when I could have been happily at Leader roaming the halls, getting lost and all that fun stuff. But * nooooo* I’m getting rather worried…no make that frustrated….*whoops* now make that pissed off that they lost…yes lost my suitcase! So we had to make a claim and *hope* they found my bag you know…before I needed that annoying thing called *clothes*

Welcome to Detroit, but I hope you didn’t need your bags!!

WELCOME TO LEADER!!!!
*cheers and dances*
I’m here..well, sort of. I’m here but not my bags, *groans* but enough about that for now…lets talk about the good stuff.

Leader arrival went great. I met Jessica Bimmermann when I walked in who is my instructor. There are 19 of us in class. I am the *only* one from Canada…go me! I also believe I am the youngest out of all of us, but will try and confirm that later and let you know. I am Jessica’s *only* client. So for those of you that have already played the Leader Dog guessing game I will be changing the last question. If you haven’t played yet…then what the hell are you waiting for? Get over there and have fun guessing what I might get and when!

Now, you would think that I would be first to get my dog right come Tuesday afternoon? *nope* Jessica is the team leader, plus she’s working with an apprentice instructor who goes under blindfold this week, plus she makes sure that everything else goes as should. I mean *sighs* I could still end up last getting my dog. Now wouldn’t that just be a pisser!

Anyways, so the rooms here are like *huge*, but I’ll tell more about the rooms and the layout of the building and all that in another post.

The JMK group:
A few of us have already hit it off extremely well and have declared ourselves the group that must sit together. somehow at dinner, not on purpose mind you our table had 6 people that started with the letter J and for the longest time it was just me…which of these things does not belong, lol. Then another lady came to join us that started with a K. I’ll write more about each once I find out if they wouldn’t mind. This group plus all the staff have definitely made me feel ok about the fact that I have *no* clothes! *grumbles* They either make a joke about something else or let me know in whatever way they can they’d help me out.

So, I think I’ve rambled on enough, *chuckles* and will definitely right more later. Sadly nope, I still have no suitcase and it is now nearly 3AM. Maybe later I’ll get lucky? Maybe?

Attention, flight change information

So, Here’s something I have to share with you all that I found rather amusing.

I got an email letting me know there has been an update to my flight information….hey, that’s all great, keep me up to date and all that. How nice of them.

So I open the email and check out the times. Ok, my leaving Ottawa doesn’t look any different so move onto the next.

Hmm, I don’t see a difference either in when I return home…um, am I missing something?

So, I go slower through the email again thinking I missed something…nope, leaving Ottawa is still the same time, leave at 9:30AM and get to Detroit at 11:10AM.

Look down at the return fight closer…WTH! The time is different. They seriously waisted email for this? What’s wrong with these automatic systems these days.

Return, leave Detroit at 2:01PM and arrive in Ottawa at 3:46PM. I bet you’re thinking what’s wrong with that eh?

Original return trip…are you ready? You sure? Ok, well, here it is…

Leave Detroit at 2:00PM and arrive in Ottawa at 3:45PM What do you think of that!

Greyhound and weird old women

OMG, you meet the strangest people while traveling on public transits, city buses, planes, trains and definitely Greyhound Canada

If you remember I was pretty sick so our trip got put off a few days and James and I left on Monday morning instead. The amusing part happened once we got on the bus.

These 2 old ladies got on the bus after us and one announced rather loudly that he had to sit in the front because she was getting off the bus first. She was getting off in some place called Cobdan, probably spelled wrong, but close enough I guess, *smiles*

Well, silly old woman, your stop isn’t even first. More like close to the end of the trip.

She didn’t stop there, no no. Then she had to announce very loudly to make sure we all knew that it was 3 minutes before the bus was suppose to leave at 10AM.

Then the horror of it all the bus was late and boy did she let us know that too.

“The bus is late,’ she yells across the bus. “What is he doing out there, he late!”

Now at this time it was only 10:02AM. God forbid the bus is 2 minutes late.

Oh this woman is going to be a fun one to travel with.

Now here was the part I found rather amusing. Finally it was time to go, everyone was on board, door closed and the driver settling in. The damn woman starts cheering loudly.

The driver asked nicely for for people to keep the noise down, hhahahahah. That went in one ear and out the other. the damn old woman shouted again. Then to top it off she states,

“I’m larger than life.”

I followed that up by saying, “and twice as loud.” *snickers*

The people you meet on Greyhound. Boy what a trip.

Cat

Off to Petawawa, the sick adventure

Finally, James and I are off to Petawawa later this morning to start our holiday that was suppose to have started on Saturday. Sadly, that didn’t happen. Why?

Well, on Wednesday evening James and I started feeling like we were coming down with something, a cold of some sort. No big deal. Whoops, very big deal, come Thursday morning James came down with a wicked high fever. I could boil an egg or 3 on him. He even cooked the bed, whew hot stuff. So I spent Thursday making sure he drank and got rest and Friday morning his fever went bye bye. He wasn’t completely back to himself, but he could at least stand without falling over.

Now for the bad news on why we couldn’t leave on Saturday. James got better, I got worse. So worse that I was puking every 10 minutes, couldn’t hold down liquids, medicine, food, nothing. It was absolutely horrible. I had the death bug so I come to calling it. There was no way in hell I was traveling like that. So why I was either curled up in bed or visiting the toilet Gods, James was speaking with Greyhound to change our tickets to Monday, (today).

But guess what, I’m still not better. This damn thing won’t leave me alone. I think it’s come back for round two! Any solid food I try to eat, toast, fruit, my stomach says screw you and back to the toilet Gods I go. *grumbles* At least this time I can drink if I’m careful. so I’m really hoping mom has lots of soup at home since I can trick my stomach into taking that since it is liquid, right? Man I hope so. I haven’t had anything to eat really since Thursday and I’m tiny enough as is. I can’t afford to lose more weight and I’m extremely weak now. I can barely stand up long enough to do the simplest things without being wiped out. This is definitely not good.

Anyways, this plans to be a very long 2 hour trip today and unlike last time, I’m not looking forward to this trip.

Oh yeah, someone suggested that maybe I’m pregnant. Ha if so, this is a cruel way to let me know it and the poor baby hasn’t had food since Thursday either. The horror of it all! Go away bug, now now now!!!

Anyone want to loan me a bucket?
