LD training19, very productive day

Now today was the absolute best and very productive. Today our work connection really showed strong.

college campus:
This morning we went to college and Luna showed me that she will have *no* problem with that part of our life at all.

People sitting on the floor *Luna didn’t give them a second thought*
People swarming around us while I stopped and talk *Luna lays down and takes a break*
Patterning her to where our pretend class is *wag wag* goes the tail…I got this her wiggly body says!
Moving through a pile of students coming and going *darn, didn’t knock any of them over* erm, I mean great job Luna!

Now to introduce her to our real college back at home and of course the bar. I think Luna will deserve a drink as well after a long day too, right? *shhh* don’t tell Jessica though. A pornstar for me and I’ll have to figure out what type of drink Luna likes *snickers*

the dog mall:
Sorry I forgot what this mall is really called, but it’s full of people and dogs and dogs and did I mention *dogs* I only had to get after Luna once for really losing focus and wanting one dog that turned into *loads* of them, but Jessica told me that I tensed up so part of that was most likely my fault *whoops*

For doing such a great job Luna got to pick out 2 new toys for herself. *um* spoiled dog already you think? She picked 2 of the expensive ones. Hahahah, think she has her handler figured out too that I’ll spoil her rotten? She bought a goughnut, the black circle one and a purple…yes, purple kong like what they get to play with at Leader. Hmph, they didn’t have a purple doughnut though *sighs*

Jessica seemed surprised that I’d pick something purple..why is that? She’s been with me 19 days already she should know without a doubt that if it’s purple *I want*

Detroit part 2:
*wow* the nuts come out at night…and *no* I’m not talking about just me!

Jessica took me to Detroit to work on a few things, night travel, distractions, obstacles, curbs and the people mover. Luna totally *kicked* ass. I’m so proud of my girl!

OMG, we also had some um *strange* people wandering around. One guy kept asking me if Luna was a *shepherd* Um, does she look like a shepherd? I’m pretty sure that I would have noticed the *pointy* ears or maybe I should go out and drink more and then I’d notice that Jessica really gave me a shepherd, lol.

So this guy is asking me if Luna is a shepherd as he’s walking straight at us and I’m also having to tell Luna *no* so she would *not* stay distracted by this person and this goofball guy ask again…is that a shepherd while still walking straight at us. *groans* my answer is still no dude. Luna’s trying to get around him, he’s like right in front of us i’m ready to shoot him and he ask for a *third* time…is that a shepherd. For the third time and again to both him and Luna the answer is *no. hahahah the guy apparently decides that I’m ignoring him and mumbles, *fine just ignore me* and walks off.

I think I’ll pass on whatever he’s been drinking!

So moving right along Jessica tells me that I’m like scaring people and they’re diving back in doorways *chuckles* WTH, is Luna that scary looking way down there on the ground with her wagging tail?

During the night walk she doesn’t fly like we do during the day and she is extremely careful. Her obstacle work is *fantastic* so loads of thanks to all of Luna’s trainers and puppy raiser for this step. Luna would make you all proud. she even managed to impress a construction worker this evening when we were weaving in and out of all their *traps*

Our second round at the puppy raiser made me feel much more at ease and less confused on what was right and what was not. Luna was actually doing exactly what I want the other day when we did the people mover, but due to conflicting information from dog and trainer this poor handler had no clue and wasn’t too pleased with results.

But, I should have known to *trust* my dog. She knew better. Her whole *body wag* should have let me know that the instructor had no clue what she was talking about and Luna was right hahahahah!

McDonald’s in Detroit:
So after our lesson was over we stopped at McDonalds so that I could get something to eat since I skipped dinner to have some much needed *quiet* time.

I’m curious when did it change to you could only place *one* order when at a drive through window?

Jessica places my order and then tries to place hers and is told *nope* only one order at the window. I’ve never heard of such a thing and I go to McDonalds a lot. Maybe this one McDonalds in Detroit on Mac road I think it was lives on a different set of rules? *scratches head*

Take care Paul:
Well, this evening another one of our number left for home today. Paul and his puppy who live close got a chance to depart campus early…the lucky ducks! So I wish you all the best Paul and many many fun years together with that girl of yours.

Paul is who I would have loved doing an interview with, but timing didn’t work out *aww*

Over all again this was a *fantastic* day and Luna shown like a star!

Now to get ready to say bye to all the great friends from class 15-03 as the re-trains leave us in the morning. How quiet it will be after that.

LD training18, time for those monthly drugs

Hey there everyone.

Today was another quiet day. We are getting near the end of training and things are starting to wrap up *cries*

Luna and I didn’t do anything exciting today, so sorry no funny things to share. This morning we did more freelance work and I partnered with Jackie and her pup and all went great there.

We also did the demo airplane thing..showing how to get the dogs nice and situated on the plane. *whew* thank god I have a tiny girl. Shove her under the seat and *poof* no more dog! I love it.

the client services team:
*cheers* I got to see Will Henry and Stephanie Steele today. Well, I actually met Will yesterday after lunch but forgot to mention that in yesterdays entry *whoops*

Will is director of client services and hahaha he’s out numbered by women on the client services team!

*bleh* frontline!
Today was that day you drug all your great pups with Heartguard and Frontline. I don’t mind the rearguard, but bleh, can’t stand that Frontline.

Luckily there’s something out now called Next Guard or it may be one word and it’s chewable like the Heartguard. Definitely something I will be getting instead of that messy don’t know if I’m doing it right Frontline.

For those of you that would prefer something like that you should check with your vets about it. Next Guard made by Frontline.

Also, today made it to a year and a half *yay* Luna!

So that’s all for now. Write tomorrow and hopefully I can catch another interview for tomorrow’s entry.

LD training17, make it stop!

One of the cool things about Leader Dogs is that it has GPS training to go along with whichever training you’re here for, guide dog or mobility. Now this is absolutely fantastic *unless* you finally discover that your GPS is *not* loaded with the maps you need! *whoops* where did they go?

The plan this morning was for everyone to use their *lovely* Trekkers to create a landmark to a coffee shop and the instructors would *throw* us out and say go find it! So finally I decided to try and figure out why in the heck my Trekker wasn’t working like it should. I’d get the annoying *initializing Trekker* wait for 10 years…*entering open area*…that’s great but still not what I need. Then nothing! It would just sit there and sit there and eventually it would saying that I was going *some direction* Oh that’s great, but um, *where the heck am I*
Hey May, you didn’t really need those maps, did you? *groans* this is what I get for not double checking to make sure Michigan was loaded onto my Trekker Breeze before I left Canada. I highly doubt that *Canada* maps will tell me where I am while here in Michigan!

So note those that are going into future classes and getting a trekker and you live in another country…make sure *Michigan* is really there. That or someone tell Humanware to get a move on and make it so us *apple* users can work with the Trekker too and not have to hunt for a darn *windows* machine!

musical Trekker:
on West 4th street…on West 4th street…on West 4th street…on West 4th street

*screams* make it stop!! All these Trekkers going off is driving me mad.

Shhh, no comment from the peanut gallery, I *did not* ask for your comments about me, humph!

Riding on a bus with at least 5 trekkers is just *soooooooo* much fun! You should try it sometime. Of course as much as I complain about them is probably the reason mine like only work when they feel like it *chuckles*

it’s time to *bond*
So riding back on the bus from this mornings trip I end up sitting with this instructor *who will remain nameless* hahahaah, that would love to have one of those suits that you can climb into and then *run* smack into each other…or she’d love to play a bonding game where we all get in a circle and *roll* into each other!

Hmm, she scares me…can I walk back to the center now? *snickers* Can you guess who this instructor is?

Sarah, Rebbie, Christie, Jessica

the people mover:
Hey, Detroits people mover is like the OTrain in Ottawa except goes to more stations, lol. And noisier!

Luna did a great job in Detroit despite the fact that her handler was *totally* stressed out wit the disorienting casino and not really knowing where I was. In my opinion the route could have been better, but the instructors with me said we looked great…so guess that’s a good thing.

fly Luna fly!
Once again Luna and I did the practice route after 8PM park with Jim and his puppy and *cheers* no frog hunting. But *yipes* watch out for those killer apples or whatever the squishy things were that slipped under your feet.

I decided to time how long it took Jim and I to walk the course this time and the result was *9* minutes from start to finish. Probably would have been quicker if we didn’t have to try and not die on squishy things, lol.

LD training14, puppy raiser day! update

Ugh, here we go again. Take 2, *grumbles* James
the picture thing didn’t work…going to beat you up when I get home!!

For those viewing this via email there is a picture in this entry. I have no idea if it will show you or not. There is also a video in this entry. This time go to my site directly or check out Leader Dogs youtube channel, https://www.youtube.com/leaderdogvideos

*finally* here is LD training day 14, Saturday puppy raiser day!!

Who let the skunks out?
*whew* when I said I wanted to do the *p* route for my free lance I did not know I’d have to wonder where the *skunks* were hiding as well.

I decided to team up with Vickie for this route and we had a great time working together. Since her GPS sort of worked I used her for when we weren’t sure where we were *chuckles* and when that didn’t work…well, we just guessed! The dogs did great during our free lance. They took us around the nice big *dirt* piles from construction, probably looked at us funny when we had *no* clue if we should turn or if that was a street hahahahah and the puppies were even better when a little boy came up to say hi to them!

the kennel tour:
Hey, what kind of tour was that? We didn’t get to play with puppies! That’s it, I want my money back *sniffs*

Seriously it was a nice tour for what we got to see. I’d love to come by whenever it’s no longer under construction and see what it’s like.

The more I learn about Leader Dogs and the more connections I make with those involved with Leader Dogs the more I wish I could work here. It would be great being able to work with clients, dogs, staff and volunteers in some way.

*psst* any openings that I can do, but don’t have to move?

got my shepherd fix:
Hey hey, for those that know me I have another shocker for you. Are you ready?

I voluntarily let someone take a picture of me *gasp* Quick I need to be rushed to the hospital!

During our tour Christie showed us the statues that are outside and these are the statues that the FLD *future leader dog* puppies take a picture next to when they return to campus for their training.

What kind of statue? Well, shepherds of course. So see, I finally got my german shepherd fix and I let Christie take my picture with it. Isn’t it *cute*

May with the Leader Dog German Shepherd statue

homemade pizza:
*OMG* now that was some awesome homemade pizza and *huge* slices! Wonder if they’ll make us some more? Just forget about the other meals and make us *more* pizza!

thing to note:
One thing that has been a little disappointing to learn or hear was that for lunch they were having *turkey* sandwiches for lunch. I *hate* turkey and wanted a grilled cheese, but my request was denied. I was told she wasn’t making any of those for anyone. I could have either BP&J or ham. Well, I’m trying to make sure I don’t get sick of either of those since I get them for my snack..same with salad. So I just skipped lunch since I couldn’t get something I hadn’t had in a while, but I need to refresh my memory on what’s in the snack machine for the next time this happens so that I’m not *starving* by dinner.

Ha, that however did make the homemade pizza even better!

*cheers* it’s puppy raiser time! I hope all those that had a visit from their raisers went great. It was hard waiting my turn. I soooo was ready to meet AJ, Kim and Deanna. They are not Luna’s raisers, but raisers of others that are in class.

I also got to have a brief greeting with Tammy who is involved with the *prison puppy program* if you haven’t heard of this program and what role Leader Dog plays, then check it out below!

It was great meeting all of you and thank you so so much for the gifts. We got nyla bones and a *huge* Luna cookie!!

Luna was a perfect little lady during the visit even when she got attention. I’m *so* proud of her.

The funny thing about getting nyla bones for Luna is I was just saying to my bf before that that I will have to get Luna new bones by the time we get home. *man* she loves those things when she decides to chew them. *snickers* now I don’t have to buy any right when I get home!

I know I’ve said this already, but thank you for all that you do in the beginning stages with these awesome dogs. I’m also glad that I can give back to you in a small way by writing our experience and putting up some videos.

No worries I won’t stop when we leave. I’m *absolutely* sure that Luna will provide lots of things to share!

LD training16, crash, boom, bam and frogs!

For those receiving this via email there is a video involved. You can view it by going to my site directly or my youtube channel, www.youtube.com/canadianlynx1.

OMG, did you ever have one of those days where you knew you should just get back in bed and hide from the world? Well, today was definitely that kind of day for me!

Everything’s out to get me!
6:15AM Someone decided to move the wall next to the closet. I swear it was not there the last time I got up. This time it got in my way and nearly took my head off. *ow* that hurt like hell!
7:15AM Who knew that playing with luna could be so dangerous? The chair next to the dog mat where Luna sleeps that *is not* of the soft variety got jealous and joined in the fun. *SOB* it bit my ankle! I would have kicked the stupid chair but that would have hurt too. One painful foot is enough, thanks!
7:30AM Luna felt left out that I was beating myself up in the room that she decided to join in the fun. *full speed ahead* she takes me right into the nice arm of the chair at the dining table…I’m seriously considering just going back to bed and starting over tomorrow.
8:20AM Knocking my head off the first time wasn’t good enough *nooooooo* I had to go for round 2. Bent down to set the bowl of water down for Luna and the towel rack jumped out to become better friends. *grumbles* I seriously should just stay inside and go back to bed.

Hey Christie, watch that curb! her driving scares me you know *snickers*

I just had to put that in there just for you Christie.

attempting the morning lesson:
Well, I figured what the hell, my room doesn’t like me so I should be safe outside, so off to train I go.

*whew* nothing jumped out to bite me, but sadly I couldn’t do the whole route since my ankle decided it wanted to start hurting more *sighs* Much to my surprise Jessica took a small video of Luna and I walking the gravel path and it shows all the nice fall colors, so I hope you enjoy. Luna of course did a great job even with her broken handler *chuckles*

*ow* my poor head!
Oh, did you think my bad day was over yet? Hahahaha, sorry it’s not.
5PM getting Luna’s dinner I try for a third time to knock my head off. This time it would be the shelf behind the bathroom door that wants to become friendly. Like really is this day *over* yet?

missed Will henry:
*shakes a fist* Darn that Will Henry would pick today of all days to sit at our table for lunch! I swear this day just gets better and better. However I much prefer missing Will over killing myself on some hard object again!

Luna goes frog hunting:
*cries* someone pleeeeeease let this day end! I decide to go on the practice route this evening to see how my ankle will do from it’s early meeting with the *painful* chair in my room and things weren’t too painful and I was able to walk at our flying speed with only a little pain.

*Luna* decides tonight that she wants to try and catch frogs. *frogs* for pete sakes!! I give up…it’s time for bed and I’m not coming out until who knows when.

LD training15, safe travels John and Zella

*whew* technology sometimes can be a pain in the *ass* Things just didn’t want to work when it was suppose to and the connection here at Leader didn’t make it much better *chuckles* The entries will be a little out of order. Training day 15 will be this one and training day 14 what happened on Saturday will hopefully be up later. Then this evening if nothing *blows up* tonights entry should be on schedule. *smiles* but don’t hold me to that!

There is an audio recording in this entry for those reading this via email. If you can’t listen to the audio, then you’ll need to go to my site to listen to it.

Drama reaches a near explosion point:
OMG, today was the first day that I had to physically hold myself back from knocking someone’s head off. I just can’t stand bullies or people that pick on others for *no* reason what so ever and then try and make themselves out to be the victim. One instructor feels that a certain person may start after me now since I jumped in to protect another…the person can surely try. I have no problem telling them where to go and how to get there without completely losing it *hopefully*

This person just picked a bad day for one thing to be a total *shit* and pick on the person they usually pick on. Emotions for today were already high. I’ll just move onto the next thing now before I slip and mention names…*grumbles* bad apples!!

safe travels John and Zella:
Today we will be saying good-bye to one of our number. John and his precious Zella will be leaving a little early to deal with matters back home.

From Leader Dog class 15-03 to John and Zella we all wish you the best and thinking of you! Keep in touch *duck man* Now what will Sarah do without those duck jokes *snickers*

interview with new guide dog handler John:
This may not be my best first interview since it happened right after an incident so please except my apologies. Last minute changes and all are always fun *smiles*

Listen to the audio here.

night walk on the practice route:
*wow* my girl can really move! But hey instructors we weren’t expecting that obstacle to still be out there, lol.

Jim and I did the practice route this evening and I believe we must have finished it in like *5* minutes. Jim and Peanut can definitely hold their own when walking with Luna and I. *cheers* for them both…I didn’t kill them!

Luna did *absolutely* fantastic. she did not try for *apples* she cleared the obstacle that those *mean* instructors left out and we definitely didn’t end up in the pond trying to *catch* frogs! Jessica will be proud.

Now to see what tomorrow will bring. *hey technology* pleeeeeease work!

LD training13, whew, are we done yet?

For those receiving this via email it does contain a video. so you will need to go to my site or to my youtube channel www.youtube.com/canadianlynx1 to view it.

*whew* omg, this has been an *extremely* long day. We just went and went and went! I definitely had *people* overload by the end of today and I think *snoring* Luna felt the same.

so lets bring on the busy day!

radio but no air:
*wow* it’s the moving steam room. This morning I ended up on the bus with the working radio, but if you wanted air *tough* luck! Of course I think I prefer the bus with radio and no air than air with no radio and have to hear *duck* jokes, lol.

no mean dogs here:
Ha, sorry Jessica you didn’t get to have Luna and I eaten by a mean doggy! Maybe that’s what Luna knew you were up to when she ran me into that nice wet plant? *see see* I can blame Jessica for that obstacle distraction…yes yes, that’s it!

Hey Luna that’s a curb!
I fond it rather interesting today that Luna did *awesome* with the flat curbs…good thing I hate them, but she didn’t stop at the non-flat ones a couple of times. Although she’s getting great at not looking at me funny when I don’t give her a treat now maybe I’ll switch back to treating her at the curbs a little more often to get her to *remember* to stop at them. I don’t fancy being road kill.

Oh my instructor is sooooooo awesome when she’s not trying to find strange mean dogs to eat us that is! Luna and I got to go to Starbucks since she did a good job on our morning route. She wasn’t overly distracted and I didn’t have to bite her head off too much for blowing curbs *yay*

So, now Luna Moon has the smell of Starbucks in her memory banks and when I get home I can start teaching *find Starbucks*

Oh no, I’m back on the moving steam room bus!!! *cheers* they managed to fix it for the ride back to campus…*air*

lunch already?
OMG, I checked the time and it’s already lunch? Where did the morning go? So no short cat nap today or distress break for me, but soooo tempted to just skip! Chemical overload!

mall mall mall with Christie:
For the afternoon session I *finally* got to work with Christie, but it was only the mall lesson *sighs* I wanted to make her run…not fair!
Luna did one hell of a job in the mall. She *did not* get distracted by anything. She *did not* run me into anything…well, unless you got Sarah and Bonnie who appeared out of no where *whoops*

Now the best part of this lesson was when we worked the escalators. Christie wasn’t sure if Luna would remember them and here’s what happened.

Me, Luna *find the escalator*
Luna, *wag wag* goes the tail and happily puts her feet up on the object she took me too. *here it is*
Christie, Ha she took you to the *planter*
*whoops* hahahah, definitely can’t ride that! But Luna sure was proud of herself.

So we wanted to see if it was a fluke and tried again with the down escalator this time *chuckles* this time she took me between the planter and the escalator *wagging* her tail!

Third time we tried we wanted to get it on video since it was extremely cute and funny. Luna however *did not* cooperate…the brat!! So instead have a *perfect* escalator approach and ride. Great job Luna!

Not this bus again!
Oh no! I’m back on the bus with the radio with no air. Hopefully it still works like this morning.

*groans* nope, they broke it again….that’s it, someone get Leader Dog some new buses! We need working radios and air on all buses!

Back to camps and look it’s time to take the dogs out and then feed them and then dinner and and and…is this day over yet!!!

LD training12, ready to get grossed out?

*wow* what a day it’s been full of laughs, grossing out and new experiences!

What makes a class memorable is not just that awesome dog you receive on dog day, but the people that are also in your class and the instructors you work with and not only trust but they also have a great sense of humor and tease right along with you.

From day one Leader Dog class 15/03 has been absolutely great! We have one person that is kind of iffy, but we’ve found a way to even interact with that person that works for us all and still have a great time. Today was one of those days that outside people got to see how goofy our group is. So, lets tell you about today *chuckles* and for those instructors that missed the fun discussion…I hope you enjoy!!

pig brains, monkey brains and road kill cookbooks?
Mmm, now doesn’t that make you extremely hungry? Yes, you did read that right. Today in the training center we discussed great food items like pig brains, monkey brains and road kill cookbooks.

Jack claims that when it comes to *road kill* it needs to be at least one week old *gags* wonder if he’d like the skunks that live under our porch?

How about for breakfast we serve you up some pig brains with scrambled eggs? If it’s made by John you can be sure it will have hot sauce to put on top. I think the kitchen staff should give him that for breakfast and see what he does since he claims you can’t tell that you’re eating a pig’s brain.

lucy asked John if he ever had monkey brains and that grossed him out…wait, he’s grossed out by monkey brains, but willing to eat pig brains *shudders*

Have I managed to gross you out yet? *snickers* if so then you are in the same boat that a lot of us had this morning while waiting to head back to campus for lunch. Great before lunch time topic, eh?

pictures, vet and media:
I once again have a dog that loves having its picture taken *sighs* Luna sat so pretty, just like a little lady. She didn’t even try and get off the table when it was her turn to take her solo picture. I told her to stay and she did *cheers*

Hey another good thing about having an instructor all to yourself…you don’t have to share her with others in team pictures!!

Luna still occasionally scratches her left ear, but the vet said it looks great so I’ll stop worrying. luna is still at a great body size and I didn’t get yelled at that she lost a little weight *whew*Since the vet said it would be ok I’m going to take her down to just 3 cups a day now instead of 3 and a half. I’ll get her weighed again to make sure it’s not *dropping*

Man, the media part was the hardest for me. I was asked what sorts of things I do…I think the easier question would have ben, what *don’t* I do. I do it all and if I haven’t yet *bet* I’ll definitely find a way to get it done!

first lesson in Portuguese:
*wow* now that was absolutely fun! Tonight was the first time I had a chance to sit down and speak with some of the Brazilian clients. luna and I have flown by some of them on routes, but never had a chance to get to know each other. So I took the opportunity to learn a little Portuguese. As of right now I still remember what they taught me *knocks on my head* but who knows what tomorrow morning will bring. Sorry, I learned how to say some words, but not how to spell them, ha!

night time route:
We had a chance to do the night time route and I decided to go double to help out another classmate who was nervous about the route. I knew from past experience that Luna and I *most certainly* can not lead in a double or will kill the other team.

During the route I learned another thing about miss Luna Moon. She *absolutely* hates being behind someone and walking slow. She most certainly displays her *displeasure** Good thing I remembered to restock the bags in my pocket. An instructor drove by and stopped to help out as well.

Luna and stress or something she isn’t happy about equals *poop* yuck!!!

One great thing about the night time route was Luna did not stop to sniff or get distracted by the things she does during the day. Hmm, maybe I should just switch to going out at night? Hard to really say however since we weren’t going at our speed and such, but fair enough I think. My classmate felt comfortable and I was able to help them out so I feel good about that too.

Now tomorrow is the mall. I think I better bring some money because I have a feeling my dog will want to *shop*

LD training11, pretty calm day

I am so glad that everyone is enjoying the Leader Dog entries. It has been absolutely fun sharing my experiences with you and look forward to sharing more. Tonights entry however is on the calm side.

Our morning started off with a gift. For those of you that read yesterdays training entry you know of the Lucky Charms. *chuckles* Jessica handed me a box of Lucky Charms at breakfast.

Luna was a bit out of sorts today and not sure if it was due to the heat or if she was pissed at me for once again not letting her have those Lucky Charms she really wants!

Today curbs were just not her friend. Dogs distracted her quite a bit and she blew quite a few curbs.

Now her country work was on point. She did a very good job there.

*whew* those overhangs though needs work. Someone need to really water those trees. *ow* they hurt when your trainer pokes you with them *chuckles*

I got Luna weighed this evening and she’s now sitting at 49.4. So she’s lost a little weight, but it it looks good on her. Sorry vets I know you wanted her to gain, but I think Luna has other plans. However she is still enjoying Fromms and hopefully soon I’ll be able to figure out her new *poop* schedule.

I’ll leave you with this:
After every meal Luna flips the bowl over and sniffs around looking for more food making sure that she didn’t miss a piece. Well, tonight she somehow managed to flip the bowl over and it landed on her head and then *snorted and growled* at it. *snickers* Sorry to say Luna no more food will fall out of the bowl that way!

LD training10, one week with Luna Moon

*wow* can you believe it? It’s been a week already! How time flies when you have a dog. Oh the joy she has brought me so far and the headaches too *smiles* lets me know that my flying time with her will be quite the adventure and I’ll always need to be ready for what may come.

Sadly to start off the day I had the worse headache I’ve had in a while so we took the morning off. It just was too unsafe for Luna and I with the state I was in.

*groans* goes Luna about this idea…she hates having time off!

What Luna has to say about distracted obedience time:
Oh great my human is getting her shoes, must mean we’re going somewhere! *spin spin* darn this tie down gets in the way. Come on human let me loose! i’m ready to go go go *bouncy bouncy* Bleh, there goes that tie down choking me again. Someone get this thing off of me!
*groans* there goes that human of mine telling me to settle and sit, but here she comes my way *spin spin* and *snorts* at the tie down. Hmm, guess I better sit like my human keeps saying so we can go.
Ugh, another thing to get in the way. My human says I must *go park* Didn’t I just do that?
*ah* the harness is finally on and I can go work now. My human says *steady* when I practically pull her arm off!
Oh, it’s not the big noisy thing we are going to, but some area where all the other dogs are. Hmm, this is not right, after I go park we are suppose to go to the big noisy thing. *oh well* maybe that’s coming….Oh, *find a seat* my human says. I like finding a seat I always get a treat when I do it right. *wag wag*
*snorts* at my human. i didn’t get a treat but a pat on the head and a *good girl* Of course I’m a good girl…so where’s my treat? Hmph, guess I’ll lay here and wait.

Oh, time for that that thing my human calls obedience, *sit, down, sit, down* Can’t we do something else…*oo wait* there’s my other favourite person, but but, who’s that with her? Did I hear her tell my human it was a dog? A dog! But but, why does she have another dog? This is not right either.
*sit* my human says. Fine I shall sit, but here comes that other dog that should not be. *Luna* my human says. What, can’t you see I’m…oo a *treat* for me. I’ll take that! Ah, that dog is getting closer. *stay* my human says…but I want that dog. Come here you dog! *yipes* my human didn’t like that much and she said that funny *fff* thing and told me to sit.
Oh no, that other dog is coming back around again. *Luna* my human says, but I just ignore her and watch that dog. *Luna* she says again…oh fine, what wha…oo a *treat* I’ll take that again. *sniff sniff* her hand, can I have another?
*stay* my human says and I try really hard to ignore that other dog and it’s getting closer and closer and…*Luna* my human says. I quickly look at her and *wag wag* I get a treat, but then I go after that dog…*yipes* that funny thing my human says and her not so happy sounding voice of me to *leave it* and then she makes me lay down.
*groans* this is not fun. That mean other dog keeps getting me in trouble…and here it comes again. *Luna leave it* my human says. I’ll just watch that dog that can’t get me in trouble can it?
Oh no, it’s coming closer again..I must stay still, I must not go for that dog. *wiggle wiggle* but my human says stay, so I must stay.
*whew* I did it and I even got a treat. Oh I’m so happy now!

Distracted obedience ended.

Bus ride to the store:
Jessica is our driver for the trip to the store. I can’t remember the last person on the bus with us, but there was Karen, Bonnie, John, Jack, I want to say it was Vickie and myself. I also probably spelled their names wrong…*sorry*

Karen, there’s this song
John, Jessica can you turn on some air?
Karen begins to sing this song about Iodine. *chuckles* funny little song, but sorry can’t remember the words so can’t type them for you.
Karen gets to the end
John, My dog was covering her ears
Karen, there’s this other song about cigarettes *chuckles* Jessica turns on the music right at that point. hahahahah that cracks us all up. Talk about timing eh?
Karen, why did I pick Leader Dogs again?
*snickers* we all love you Karen!

Luna displays her displeasure:
So this afternoon we went to the grocery store and worked with the pups on follow. Luna does a great job at following. My title miss also showed me the sorts of things she likes. Lucky charms, peanut butter, milk bones and a squeaky duck. I’ll make sure to buy her at least a squeaky toy at some point. Oh, *whoops* she also wanted some chicken.

But then we get to the fish section and um well, Luna decides enough is enough. I wouldn’t let her get her Lucky Charms that she really wanted, nor the chicken and the smell of the fish was *not* to her liking, so she begins to leave us a *smelly* package of her own.
*yipes* pull out the bag and get ready, but nothing comes out yet. Quick round of obedience Jessica suggests hoping it will work its way back up…then we decide nope lets *run* for the door and get her outside.

*oh no!* we didn’t make it!

Clean up on isle 4!!

I hand Jessica all the bags I have and watch Luna in case she wants to give us *several* piles, but she’s all done. We get it all cleaned up and take Luna out anyway, just in case. of course Luna’s like *I did that already*

I put the harness back on her and back through the store we go to finish the lesson.

Luna does an awesome job when it comes to the grocery cart. She stays behind it or slightly off to the side so she can look and when we switched to me pulling while she guided, she was great! Her pace was good and she didn’t get overly distracted by things she wanted. Telling her *straight* kept her moving along. It was the cart that didn’t want to listen when it came to right turns. *chuckles*

*cheers* I got my Starbucks!! Miss Luna Moon got lots of praise and *aww* what a pretty dog and she’s well behaved. *yay* Luna!
