Where’s the Ham?

Well, it’s that time of year again. Where everyone is making lots of nasty, gross, disgusting turkey. *gags*

The best part about this year is that I get to spend it with James and his family who I really like, but here’s a serious question. Where’s the ham? Please tell me there will be ham. I mean, I hate turkey, eew!

Now maybe if there’s lots of pumpkin pie I won’t mind, but as long as I get it and not James the greety pig.

So mom, is there ham?

I’ll tell you all how things go if I survive sometime over the weekend.

Abuse of Power

People in power that need to catch up with todays time. A judge that needs a lesson in todays culture and what symbols like “lol” mean.

Apparently, a woman named Paula Asher, who hit a car while driving under the influence, was ordered by the judge in the case to delete her Facebook account, after she typed the following status message on her Facebook page:

“My dumb bass got a DUI and I hit a car…LOL”

The judge seemed to take the “LOL” statement literally — that she was “laughing out loud” at her drunk driving accident — and ordered her to delete her Facebook account. She then ignored that order, leading to a contempt of court charge and jail time.

WTF! What does facebook have to do with any of this? I ean did this judge never laugh at herself when she did something stupid? Talk about abuse of power. If I was this lady I’d go after the judge for wrongful jail time.

Great, punish the woman for driving while drunk that’s expected, but the jail time. What’s that crap all about?

I don’t think this judge belongs on the bench and should be removed.

Social Media, an Addiction, Yes or No?

First I would ask that anyone that chooses to post on this thread please keep it respectful. Everyone has a right to their opinion and feelings and should not be made to feel bad or defensive about what is said here.

I have a project due in school for my Addictions class and everyone and their grandmother is doing theirs on the common addictions that everyone knows about drugs and alcohol, but my interest lies in another direction. Social media is it an addiction? Can it lead to an addiction?

It’s only within the past year or so that professionals started looking seriously at social media as an addiction and of course with any new thing it will generate nice debates. So I’m interested in your thoughts if you care to share them.

Huge Reason to Celebrate!

I am so going to celebrate today after class and possibly all weekend!

For the first time ever I got my best grade on a test and in Sociology at that!

Usually when I sit down to take a test I totally forget everything I’ve learned, read or whatever, but not this time. I received 8.75 out of 10 points on a 40 question multiple question test. So totally awesome for me!

This test I was more worried about than others in the past as well due to issues I’m having with not quite having my text book because Center for Students with Disabilities, (CSD) is well, way back there. I received the first 4 chapters of my Sociology book by Wednesday of this week and the test had to be done today before 4:00 pm.

This one test and best grade ever will motivate me to at least keep going to my Sociology class, *smiles*

Yay me!

Glad it’s Not Me and Picking Up A Roommate

Whew, all I can say is, “I’m glad it’s not me.”

I took James to Algonquin College today so that he could register for school and all that happy stuff, so now he’s a student in training, *smiles* Unfortunately for the boy thing he has to get up and be at school 4 days a week by 8 in the morning. That’s probably not the worse part for him. No no, that is probably the fact that he has to do math that early in the morning, ha!

So do I hear loads of caffeine time in the morning starting on October 15th or somewhere around that time?

Oh yes, lets also mention that also starting around that time I’ll be picking up a roommate. Yep, going to try this whole roommate thing again and hope things work out this time. That means once again lets try for this 2 bedroom thing and see what happens. *looks for the nearest place to buy Pornstars*

Ha, that’s Pornstars the drink!

Does Not Like Pepsi!

Well, lately there’s been lots of post regarding school stuff, so it’s time to move to a different book and see what’s inside.

If you don’t remember several post ago I mentioned I have a boyfriend and he’s the one that got me back into this blogging thing and surprisingly enough I now do it more than he does. That’s just because he’s lazy, *smiles*

Anyways, his name is James and we’ve been dating since July 1, 2012 and will hit the 3 month mark next week. Can’t believe that, seriously how time flies.

Things are going great there, better than I expected, but see there’s this one huge problem. He does not like Pepsi! I mean something is seriously wrong with this picture. How can you not like Pepsi? He’s a Coke drinker and that’s all good. I have nothing against Coke except for the fact, it’s, not, Pepsi!!

And if anyone dares try and say they taste the same I’m going to find you and smack you around with cases of Coke and Pepsi just for good measure.

Anyways, maybe I’ll have to trade James in for someone that’s a Pepsi drinker. This needs some serious thought now, *smiles*

I love you James!

Who Turned Off the Heat?

Hey, someone please tell mother nature to turn the heat back up just a bit. I mean hell it’s not time for it to be this cold outside, brrrrr!!

I’m not suppose to wake up some mornings and it be 0 degrees outside. I shouldn’t have to grab a coat yet just to take my dog outside. What’s all this about?

Seriously someone flip the switch back to at least comfortable weather.

Who needs sleep?

Well, I must say I found it rather amusing when I finished my assignment for class to discover that the sleep that I thought I actually did was not true.

Four hours of sleep, yeah right! I’m lucky to get sleep once a week according to my time line.

How in the world do I manage to do all I do and not freaking sleep?

Before anyone suggest it, no, cafene is not my excuse either. I just somehow manage to stay awake for hours and hours on end before I go to sleep. Then when I finally sleep it’s like for maybe 2 hours if I’m lucky.

Now of course when I’m sick that time is different. I get 4 to 5 hours of sleep, drugged but hey, it’s still sleep.

Seriously, who needs sleep? Highly over rated, *smiles*

When you think of addictions you most likely think of alcohol, drugs and gambling, but there are loads out there. For example, shopping, sex, exercise, tanning, ext.

Those ones that are on the top of the list now are gaming and social media: such as, twitter, Facebook, foursquare and hey tell.

I just got started this year in the social media scene and I’m amazed at how much time some people I know spend on twitter and Facebook. It blows my mind. Some people I know can’t go 2 minutes without tweeting something. They have to have access to technology so that they can tweet, Facebook or hey tell people about the creep sitting next to them that smells like raw onions or how some adult is dealing with a child.

I definitely enjoy twitter and Facebook and sometimes hey tell, but I don’t live for it. It doesn’t rule me like I see it ruling some of my friends.

Andrea Yates

Who remembers the event that happened in September 2001?

I bet a lot of you still do, 9-11, but does anyone remember the other horible event that happened at the same time that also got a bit of news time?

Andrea Yates murdered all 5 of her young children and claimed that she was hearing voices about the Devil wanting them so she had to save them. Killing them was the only way she could do so.

I remember this topic very well because I wrote a paper about it and received an A and it was the only paper in English class that “did not” talk about 9-11.

Well, yesterday in my Psychology class we talked about Andrea Yates and I actually learned more information that when I did my research back then I didn’t find.

For example, when Andrea first started hving problems it was after their 4th son Luke was born. Doctors strongly advised Andrea to take time to herself and stop doing everything and feeling that she had to. It was also strongly advised that they “did not” have another child.Against what the doctors said Rustle the husband claimed that he and his wife Andrea discussed it numerous times and decided having another child would be fine. They were just going through a rough time with their son and there’s meds for Andrea if things get rough again, no problem.

Well, we all know how that ended up. One day after Rustle goes off to work Andrea drowns all of the children in the tub. She then calls her husband and tells him in a cold voice, “you need to come home.”

Andrea went to trial twice for the murder of her children under the insanity plea. The first time she was sentenced to a Psychtriatic jail, but the trial was declared a mistrial due to a witness that lied. In the second trial the jury sent her to a Psych hospital instead.

Guess what? It’s research time again. I’m interested since the topic is being discussed in my Psych class what has happened with Andrea Yates. How is she now?

If you care to comment on this topic by all means feel free. I’d love to hear your thoughts if you remember this event at all.
